(August 4, 2014) — The Toronto-bound lanes of the Burlington Skyway are expected to reopen tonight between 6 pm and 8 pm, an MTO official confirmed to OTA this evening.
The lanes have been closed since last Thursday when a dump truck damaged the bridge’s overhead steel trusses and girders.
Crews worked throughout the long weekend examining the structural integrity of the bridge, cleaning debris and completing extensive repairs to the steel scaffolding and fixing the pavement.
More permanent repairs are needed over the coming months, but for the most part they will take overnight to lessen the impact on traffic, said Astrid Poei, MTO’s communications coordinator. There will, however, be lane reductions during these ongoing repairs.
On behalf of the MTO, Poei thanked OTA member carriers for their patience throughout this ordeal.
